So this new study in the Journal of Sex Research hurts my brain a little. In it, groups of men were shown pictures of women with different body types, and lo and behold, they consistently rated a photo of a woman with a 29.24 BMI as...
the most attractive (25 to 29.9 qualifies as “overweight”; "normal" is 18.4-24.9).
I mean, on one hand: yeah! Official research supports that men love women that don’t necessarily fit the “ideal” body type!
But on the other, much-larger hand: Do we really need a study to tell us this? Some of the curviest women I know are also the most confident—and the most popular with guys.
Or am I overreacting? Is it surprising to you that women don't need to be mainstream beauties in order to be attractive to men?
